Do you aspire to be a published author?
ISN have partnered with Collins to find the textbook authors of the future. ​Give writing a go, and you could be presenting your article at a Collins event.  â€‹

Introduction

The winning entry in each subject will receive a £150 book voucher. The overall winner will additionally be paid a £500 appearance fee to discuss their winning entry at a Collins webinar held on a date of their choice. Selected entries will be published and promoted on ISN. ​Blah blah blah…..

Competition Rules 

The competition is open to all international educators. All you need to do is create an ISN account and submit a 1000 – 1500 words article on one of the following topics: ​

  • How do you inspire young learners to love your subject? ​

  • How do you include real-life global contexts in the teaching of your subject? ​

  • How did your teachers influence and impact the way you teach today?

ISN have spoken to 4 published authors to discuss their top tips for writing.

Article Guidelines

Pick the title you are most passionate about!  ​

Select one or two questions that will help frame the topic you have chosen. The best articles are generally practical and solutions-focused ​

Make it personal, explain why you care about this topic ​

Make it important, explain why and how this topic may be important to others and what the benefits of a positive outcome might be

Discuss your experience, share setbacks and successes in your narrative ​

6

List / discuss the key takeaways or learnings that can advise and help guide the reader (‘evergreen’ content resonates well i.e. advice that remains relevant for future readers)

Sum up your thoughts/insights, perhaps posing a question back to the reader to encourage further discussion around the topic  ​

Include any references you’ve referred to ​

Entries are open until December 15 2022 and winners will be announced in January 2023. ​

Full terms and conditions

 

  • Entrants must be international educators.  

  • Each entrant must be an ISN member.  

  • Each person may only submit one entry.  

  • Submissions must be written in English. 

  • Submissions must use one of the three given titles. 

  • Entries must be original and must not be published elsewhere.  

  • For entries to qualify they must be submitted to articles@isn.education 

  • Articles must be within the 1500 wordcount. Titles and diagrams are not counted in the wordcount. 

  • Submission deadline is 15 December 2022. 

  • The winners will be notified in January 2023.  

  • Selected entries will be published on ISN and may also be promoted throughout our wider network, including the ISN LinkedIn and Newsletter.
